Salary of a Video Game Tester
There are 3 categories of firms that hire you as video game tester and the salary paid varies depending on the company that offered you the job. They are through large scale developers; as in video game companies like Xbox, Nintendo etc, small scale developers; as in developers that develop from home. They can also be classified as sole game developers and testing firms; as in companies that their main business is to test games and reports bugs for both the small scale and large scale game companies. Now let’s classify them according to the amount of salary they pay.
Large scale developers: if you are lucky to get a testing job from large developers, there salary ranges from $10-$12 per hour. There pay, at times, is the largest all. You also receive compensation for any bug you find and other allowances attached to your salary.
Small scale developers: there pay fall in-between the other twos. You can expect to earn between $8 to $10 per hour. You are more opportune to get a testing job from this set of developers than the other twos. They also allow testers to test games from home.
Testing firms: you should expect to earn from as little as $7 to as big as $11. There is also additional compensation attached to it if you find any bug.
To summarize it all, the amount of money you earn depends on the years of experience you have in testing games. Experience counts! The more your experience grows the more you will earn. If you have 7 years experience in game testing you would earn about $70,000 yearly, that’s it.
